Chiropractic care is the assessment, diagnosis, conservative management and prevention of musculoskeletal conditions and disorders, primarily through the use of non-invasive manipulation and other manual therapies.
What is a Chiropractor?
Chiropractors are spine, muscle and nervous system experts who specialize in assessing, diagnosing, treating and developing plans of management to keep you moving free of pain.
A chiropractor may improve your overall health and wellness using various treatments from manual ‘hands-on’ adjustment techniques to soft tissue therapy.
Can Chiropractic care help me?
Chiropractors can treat pain or injuries resulting from performing every day tasks, athletic endeavors or simply aging. From repetitive strains, accidents, or pulled muscles, Chiropractic treatment can help.
Joint Manipulation
Joint manipulation is a hands on, non-invasive technique used in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and disability. This technique is performed by delivering a rapid but precise force to a specific area of the body. Often times a ‘pop’ or ‘snap’ will be heard and felt.
Joint manipulation has been shown to have many benefits including:
- Decreased pain
- Improved muscle activation near the joint
- Improved range of motion
- Improved functional mobility
Why do joints pop?
Sometimes small pockets of gas (CO2) become trapped in your joints. These pockets expand and contract as pressure around the joint changes with movement. When that gas is suddenly released from a joint through manual joint manipulation, the joint will ‘pop.’
